for Ecoboost owners
My point was that the computer takes readings from the throttle positions once every .xx seconds. If you slam the throttle to the floor you might go through two or three readings when the computer is trying to do what you want it to do. Because you are changing the throttle before the computer makes all of the changes, it is essentially stuck on the last good reading it had. Once you stop moving the throttle it catches up and goes.

AND - it's doing that while also calculating fueling, firing plugs, and a couple thousand other functions all in real time.
Multi-tasking event-driven realtime O/S. It ain't running Windows

Like I said - this alleged 'delay' is by design - yer truck Nanny at work. Forgot to add there is also a delay going open loop (hence enrichment), in addition to throttle plate percent opening restrictions. Saw it someplace ... can't fer the life of me remember where - dang runing outta Ginseng, lol.
Explains why my superduty felt faster off the line when I rolled into the throttle (also my EB, but really noticeable in the diesel) rather than mashing it. The fastest way is still to do a boosted launch, but I only save those for races where I know it will be close.
Sorry - nope. It measures every few milliseconds - far and away faster than any merely human input could possibly overwhelm it.

I would buy again, and again, and again. I'm 26 and my vehicle history includes 2000 F-150 SuperCab XLT 4x4 with the 4.6, then a 2005 Screw King Ranch 4x4 5.4, and now my 2011 FX4 Screw EcoBoost. All of my trucks were purchased new, and this 2011 F-150 is soo amazing. On the EcoBoost...I love it. Paired with the 6spd, it is soo smooth, quiet, and powerful. I am leveled out and running 275/65/20 (34") GoodYear DuraTracs. My avg mpg is around 16. But it varies quite a bit, depending on driving conditions, and how I drive it. I can get 18-19 or as low as 13-14. Before my leveling kit and tires, I would easily get 20 mpg. Oh, I have the 3.73 gears. My 05 5.4 had a BAD throttle lag. I took it to the dealer and complained over and over, and even got reflashed. Under accelleration (even moderate) it would literally act as if it had lost all power for a second, and then respond. It wasn't solved until I decided to get a Gryphon, then there was no lag. My Eco has NO where near the lag that my 5.4 had. This engine doesn't respond immediately, but as mentioned, no vehicle does. I definitely do not have a 1-2 second pause..not even a second. I won't even get into how much better this Eco tows my 24" Hurricane deck boat. I love my truck!!

It tows great but mpg stinks for towing- doesnt' matter if it's a flat bed or horse trailer, still usually 11-12mpg. Also short trips and or if it's cold hurt mpg by nearly 2. Usually on a vehicle I can make the average of the city and hwy on the sticker. for mine at 15/21 should be 18. My lifetime avg is 16.6 so I am a little dissapointed. If I had to do again I would have saved the $750 and bought the 5.0. From what I read it gets a little better mpg both towing and unloaded. guess I got caught up in the ecoboost hype. The turbos appear to suck more fuel than a 5.0 that is having to rev faster for the same driving terrain. I sometimes wonder if I could use a programmer and have it downshift on hills more instead of using so much boost and see better mpg
No buyer's remorse from this guy. I bought my Ecoboost back in February and I've been getting the EPA mileage in the city and on the highway. Even towing an 1800# trailer I was getting 15mpg in Austin gridlock.
