Post Neat exhaust- cheap, and powerful!

I was removing my Gibson exh. today to ready my truck for my all stock 1st dyno run Thursday. As I worked I spied a slim little box that has been in my garage since I can remember being able to pronounce Glass Pack. Sure enough it was a bright red cherry bomb glass pack. Well, hmmm, it only cost me 13.** back in the day, it has a true straight through design(with out the traditional louvers), and I have nothing else better to do today. So I chopped the old factory muff out being carefull enough to leave enough metal to reattach later. I clamped in the 2 1/2 by 29 1/2 " pack and fired the truck up. Sweeeeet mellow nascar sound was all I got. Like borla, but sweeter. It gives the truck an Idle that the 4 cammer stangs should be envious of(they have a sweet idle!). I went out and romped on it and boy it sounded nice. If you guys are looking for an inexpensive exhaust that allows for super sleeper status and still gives you more flow than flowmaster-go buy a Cherry Bomb.

P.S.- It was hard to take it off, the sound rivaled the gibson so much I even questioned what the hell I was doing! The Gibson beat it in overall looks, although that bright red pack looks pretty neat.........maybe i'll dyno it too.......Bomb v.s. Gibson...

Wink

I take it that you have a s/i s/o. Was there any loss in low end power? I was thinking of scrapin my Y joint and running 2 cherry bombs out the side. Do you think there would be enough back pressure? How about sound?

I only ran a s/i s/o. I think with two there would be too much flow, and it would start to get really ricey, but it'd be loud! The single one really growls, it is a very sporty sound, kinda mellow in the low rpms up to around 2000. This is all on the stock tailpipe too, no tip. The power increase really suprised me, I'm gonna check tomorrow, but I bet it was worth at lest 9-10 at the rear-hold me to it....

Thumbs up

You got it, 9-10hp. Question, which Gibson did you have and did you notice a performance increase from it, or was it just sound? I am definitly going to do some exhaust work, but havent made up my mind yet. I guess my question is this: When you got you gibson did you notice a difference (performance), and then when you put on the Glass Pack did you notice a further difference over the gibson? Thanks Jeff

ILOVNOS,

Where in the line of the exhaust did you put the Cherry Bomb? I recently bought a Cherry Bomb and some clamps at the local auto parts store. If it is too loud all I'm out is about $20 and my time to put it on instead of $200 or $300 if I went to the muffler shop and then the system was too quiet or too loud. I purchased the 2 1/2 cherry bomb that is 29 1/2 long. Thanks
