Ford Quality Renewal engine - Why?

I bought a used 97 years ago. It has a Ford Quality Renewal label on the valve cover. I would like to replace intake gaskets if not done yet. Is there a way to know why it got a FQR engine? Is it recorded somewhere? Does the vin check give that info? I would like to hear from the folks here before paying them. Thanks.

EDIT: NADAGUIDE charges $30. CARFAX $35.

It's probably a replacement from a hydrolock. Go to a Ford dealer and ask them to run an OASIS report for you, it's free.

It may be free, but when I called a local dealer, they said no. Apparently, they don't want to do that for me. Other options? Be there in person? Get oil change done? Can I just pay for OASIS? I don't want to beg.

Thanks for the info. I haven't heard OASIS before.

EDIT: Does CARFAX or NADAGUIDE vin check get the same service history?

Try a different dealer, and go in person. No, you can't pay for it. OASIS will have a record of everything that's been done by a Ford dealer.

Thanks. I guess I will have to beg. If anyone from here will do it for me, I will gladly pay though.

Whats the vin number? I just started working at a ford dealer as a tech. I should be able to look it up for ya. Send it to me in a pm if you want.
