Regular on the corner near where I live in Houston is $159.9. I just got back from five days in New York city where I was amazed to find that gas is ten cents a gallon cheaper there than in Houston, and we have a ton of refineries right here!

In La Crescenta, CA... at my local
Shell Station regular is $1.79... premium
is $1.99!
Yet Exxon/Mobil just reported a 50% increase
in PROFITS!!! Went from $3.55 billion to
$5.05 billion (first quarter!)... of course
in S.Cal. we are also being told by the
power companies that 'energy' is at a
premium.. and take out your wallets.

The argument goes that Europe pays so much
more for gas, etc., than we do. Well, America
has the resources for better gas mileage,
and more oil. But we allow the conservationists to RULE our land, instead
of just have 'a say', as we all should.
The methods for digging out oil are 1000%
more ecologically friendly than just 20 years
ago. We have oil in Alaska that would reduce
our dependency on OPEC, and drop our costs.
We also could divert fuel from costly
electrical production and replace it with
nuclear. France supplies 70% of it's
energy needs thru Nuclear. Japan (still
suffering from our 'drop'??) has used that
technology to supply 50% of it's power needs.
America is a great country (and makes
mistakes like all others) but until we the
working class can be heard as clearly as
all the LOUD and ANGRY special interest
groups, WE will be paying the price... at
the gas pumps, or thru our utility bills, or
wherever big business rakes in the profits
at our expense! I still try to buy only
American, but I also think we need to
make every vote count, call those who represent us and make a LOUD noise about
reduced drilling, moratoriums on 'power plants' because some frog dies off, and
other prohibitive practices that hurt our
productivity and pocketbooks!
Our move to Tucson, AZ (not bad prices!)

I just paid $1.86 for cheap stuff at the local Citgo, where premium goes for $2.06. I traveled 377.7 since the last fill up, and put in 20.78 gallons, that comes out to 18.18 mpg in nothing but heavy duty unadulterated bumper to bumper slow *** city driving, and I am very proud of my truck. Screw the Arabs, screw the politicians, screw Honda Insight drivers, screw the oil companies, screw Al Gore the tree-huggin commie bastard, and bring on $3/gallon, my truck and I are ready. I'll just drive even more like a granny, and get over 20 mpg! Then when Ford finally brings out the F-150 4.5L V-6 Turbodiesel, I'll buy one and go for 25-30 mpg. I will ALWAYS drive a truck.

what to eat. It's harder trying to get the
public to do ANYTHING in unison (and that
includes driving on the correct side of the
road!)... getting even a large majority to
stop buying gas or to boycott anything
seems nearly impossible... but I LIKE the

I about hit someone on base head on the other day. 4 Lane road with grass in between the lanes. Someone turned onto the into the lane before the median and was going the wrong way. Good thing I saw them. They were driving a grand am or grand prix. Probably wouldn't have been much damage to the truck if we did hit each other. About 1.45 for reg and 1.65 for supreme.

I buy Diamond-Shamrock which is $1.61 for regular here in Houston. I drove to San Marcos (between San Antonio and Austin) yesterday and Diamond Shamrock is $1.45 there. What's up with that?
The newspaper this week said gasoline reserves are higher right now than they were a year ago. The oil companies are screwing us claiming a gasoline shortage, yet they are also awash in cash and posting record profits.
