service injectors?
I have just over 100k on my 4.2 and having no trouble yet(touch wood)but am wondering if the injectors should be cleaned. Do the cleaners you add to the gas work well enough or should I have them taken out and serviced or replaced, just as preventative maintenance?
I have about 48,000 miles on my '97 4.2 and I had my injectors and throttle body cleaned out about 1,000 miles ago and the difference was unbelievable. The repsonse was so much better. I didnt think that it would make such a big diff but it did. It was worth it! I dont notice any difference using the mechanics in a bottle. Give it a shot!

I just had the injectors and throttle body done yesterday, after a trip to the dealer with a check engine light that turned out to be just a bad fuel cap. However, the mechanic said it needed this other work, and I know it had never been done. Amazing difference. Purrs, and runs like a new truck. It has about 43,500 miles on it.
I'm interested in trying this for my truck. What would that service be called and how much should I expect to pay the dealership for it?

Wow, that sounds expensive. Was that done at a Ford Dealership?
I called my local one, and they advised that an Injector Flush would cost $53.95 total, plus 8% sales tax. And it would only take about an hour to do. Now I'll just have to wait for this coming payday and I'm in!
