To all... thanks for the continued great information. I'm monitoring this thread, trying to gain as much insight as I can.

The 4.2 is rated at:

210 HP @ 4750

255 # @ 3000

It will still make 200HP past 5200.

I have had my 4.2 past 5500 a few times...so far so good.

Well it happened today, I was racing a dodge with the 318 and I ran into the rev limiter in 1st gear.Boy did that suck,its like hittin a brick wall.5600 rpm it is,I will have to be a little more carefull. Needless to say, the dodge won . I am gonna demand a rematch.

That happened to me when I took on a 4Runner. It sucked. I got him at the next light though. I would have really had if I hadn't smoked the tires for 30 feet.
