Rran at the 1/8th mile......
hey guys, i ran at the 1/8th mile track in denton the other night, i ran a 10.8. im thinking that is slow, but they say to add 4 sec to your time to get a 1/4 mile time so thats 14.8 correct me if im wrong here....
but, my truck is stock except for k&n, true duals with the flowmasters.
i killed a mustang v-6 out there, and was taking the gts out of the whole, a transam there was getting pissed because my v-6 whooped him through the 60ft. i dunno if my truck is tricked or what. have any of you ever ran at a track?? im thinking that i shouldnt be able to do all this with that heavy truck and just 200 hp. plus my rear gears are 3.05, (or 3.08) cant remember, but anyways, im gonna switch to 3.93's in the back and then port out the heads on the intake and exhaust side, get the headers then see how much of an improvement that is.

You are only running an 1/8th mile, if you happen to get the tree on a guy in a stock GT, you will have a small lead for a time, by then he is probably haulin hard on his way to swoop you and by the time he gets his 3-4 carlengths on you he has to shut down. In a 1/4, you would get blown out. Trust me, flowmasters and a K&N are not gonna get you into the 14's unless you have a V8(5.4 cough cough), even then it's debateable. The only way you havea truck that quick is if the guy who had it before you hid a blower in the engine bay......I have TUNED exhaust, intake, now a 70MM throttle body, shortbelt, electric fan, and a few other minor mods and cheap tricks and I'm hoping for mid to low 16's, hell I would **** my jeans if I ran low 16's Naturally aspirated and granny shifting.
my exhaustr is tuned by using the painstripe method, did that myself, and i have a peice of pvc plastic tube instead of the stock rubber tube, i dunno, maybe its just a modded truck? who knows?
A 10.8 quarter will net you about a low 17 second 1/4 mile. Unless you use nitrous after the 1/8th mark, or just have such massive power that you spin forever and finally hook. I just got back from the track, and was on my way into the 16's N/A when traction went to **** and it was getting late. I ran 17.8, 1.00 R/t(Just not paying attention). Backed that with a 17.2, .600 R/t, I left at 1500 rpm, but spun coming out of it, and I missed 3rd gear. The final run was on the juice. We experimented with using it from a start, not a good idea. The tires smoked off the line so bad I had to get out of it and baby back to traction, the same in second gear, had to shut down at the 1000 mark or so because of a little pinging(a whole other story) It shold have been a good 19 second run with all the damn tire smoke and braking but I managed a snail-like 18.005. Basically a good night gone bad and it didn't help that people kept breaking water hoses on the line, and all the guys running radials thought that they had to go through the water box and do massive one-wheel burnouts leaving crappy rubber and water on the line, that peevs me off, can't imagine how the 10 second slick runners feel. I'm going to another track next week and will definately break into the 16's N/a.
