Post Gibson Sideswept for 4.2 ,Anyone have one?

Just wondering if anyone has the gibson side swept catback. How does it sound? And is there a noticable increase in power? Also is it an easy installation?

Thanks

Yes Somebody please let us know, I'm thinking about the same exhaust.

Not really caring about sound, mostly concerned with not loseing any low end tourque ( would like to gain some like they say!)

bought gibson side swept cat back for 99 sc 4.2 and love it. was looking for more towing power and was very surprised at the dead stop throttle response, very good from low to mid range. I choose the gibson because of the way it sounds on a V6, not the throaty v8 sound but also not like the annoying sound when people put duels on a V6, just not meant to be. if you want the v8 sound buy a v8. i think you would be very satified with the gibson as long as you don't want the V8 sound. Performance only. good luck

i was looking forward to installing it myself, then got under the truck and found out how little room i had to work with to take the stock out, i decided to have a muffler shop install...worth the money in my opinion. $60. They also were able to tack weld in certain spots so there would be no slipping. not that there would be but it made me feel better.

I installed a Gibson split dual exhaust on my 4.2L 5sp and like it. No idle rumble but sounds nice during acceleration at high rpms.

Thanks for the info Jasonn i might try it my self but for 60 bucks you can't complain! Is it any louder in the cab of the truck? This is going to be my next mod i'm just waiting on my Superchip now. Can't wait to install the chip from what i have heard it is the best way to pick up a good 20 to 25 horses and 31 more on the torque! i'll post an update soon.

I have the Gibson swept-side, and it is an easy install. The toughest part was removing the stock exhaust, in that you must cut it out. I used a hacksaw, but afterwards I realized how much easier I could have made it with my cordless drill and a cutting disk, or my Dremel tool, or my reciprocating saw. It still only took me an hour.

If you are interested in pulling power, that is where the best gains are made. It is barely louder, but with a much better pitch. I too was worried that it might sound like a Honda Civic with a flowmaster, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Everybody who has a Gibson exhaust will tell you that.

Dude: check out the Beer Math - $60 = 1 keg.

Thumbs up

Well i finally got my exhaust installed, i brought to a local muffler shop and paid 60 bucks to have them do it. I was hoping to do it myself but i just didn't have the time! The noise level is no louder then the stock, but it does have a different pitch when you down shift our let off at WOT. And the increase in low and mid range acceleration is very nice! So far i'm very satisfied with the Gibson Side swept!
