Airaid Installation part2
Specail Thanks to Dirt Bike Dave for his install tips for the airaid.. Made things easier for me despite the awful directions that came with the kit.
One thing about the directions that really sucked was I had no idea what they were talking about when they said "filter housing" or "air cleaner".. I'll explain quickly some things I found may help
The first thing they ask you to do "translated by me" is to remove the tube that goes from the "throttle body" to the first clamp that attached to where the filter is located. there's a clamp on the hose that's connected to that and the 2 come off first.
The other thing that held me up was getting that stupid MA sensor outta the filter box.. was a pain in the ***.. Basically had to open it like a can of paint, with a screwdriver, pry the damn thing open. The wire plug pops out pretty easy.
One last thing were the screws that attached the MAF to the plactic fitter was a bitch to get off.. Ford really wrenched those screws on there good.. so I had a buddy hold one end and I held another.. we got em off
the rest goes smooth.. remember to keep the screw heads facing the engine when attaching the maf to it's provided metal fitting that attaches to the body.. otherwise when you go to put the filter on, it will not fit all the way on without hitting the screws popping out. My filter popped off yesterday when I gunned it a few times..
overall, where ever you choose to but one of these units from, they rule!! and they totally take away that whiney-horrible sounding first/second gear and make your truck scream nice!! Don't expect something immediatly either, took about 4-5 runs with the truck before the engine adjusted

Glad to hear you like the Airaid. I still remember the way the hairs on my neck stood up the first time I punched it with the Airaid.
Sorry to hear they haven't improved the instructions yet! It is basically an easy install. However, it sure would be easier if Airaid spent like an hour of staff time and made better instructions.
