Superchip with 5spd V6
I have heard alot of people with auto trannys say that superchips improve/change shift points, will the chip do the same for my 5spd. What differences would i notice power wise with the chip. I already have a K&N and Flowmaster series 40 exhaust, should i get a custom burned chip or would that really matter.

Hi JDm,
In these F-150's, you do not need to have a custom program done for the mods you listed, the K&N air filter or the exhaust change. You don't need to change the program for things like K&N air filters, the Airaid or K&N FIPK kits, cat-back exhausts, etc. In general, it's the major mechanical modifications that will require adjustments to the program, things like superchargers, nitrous oxide, gear ratio changes, etc. One nice thing about the Superchip in this regard is that if you do major mods after installing the Superchip, it can always be updated thanks to it's flash design.
These engines gain the same basic amount of peak power whether you have the manual or the automatic transmission. Because you have a manual transmission, of course it will not affect shift points per se, as you shift the gears manually and consequently you will always decide the shift point yourself. I know that's an obvious statement, but if you're wondering for example, is the rev limiter raised so you can use more rpms, yes, it is, about 200-300 rpm higher than stock. In terms of what to expect your truck to feel like as a result of installing the Superchip, it's going to feel like you picked up about 10%-12% more motor under the hood, is one way to express the seat-of-the-pants difference in feel, as that is the approximate percentage of power gain at sea level altitude, 10%-12%. The maximum power gain on the 4.2 V-6 Superchip is 25 hp & 31 lbs./ft. of torque; what you'll actually gain will depend on your altitude & fuel quality, but in round numbers you can figure you're going to have 10%-12% more power than you do now.
You've been here for a while now, so you probably already know that there are a number of F-150 Online participants using the Superchip in their manual-transmission vehicles who hang out in the Computer Chips section, and they can give you some good feedback too.
If you'd like to go over anything in detail, please feel free to give us a ring, & good luck with your truck.
That's quite a list of family vehicles, by the way!

Another short reply: buy it. Of all the mods I made, the Superchip made the single best improvement.

Hi BlackSTX,
I don't know where you have heard that from, but there generally is no delay in shipping once you place your order, they usually ship the same day! We need to know your vehicle's computer code, and we can get your Superchip right to you. To locate your truck's computer code, simply go to the passenger side and open the passenger door. Look in the front part of the door frame, in the area of the door hinges, and there you will find a sticker with 3 letters and 1 number, and that is your computer code.
To order, you can either give us a call at our number below, or you can use our online ordering system right here, and there is a link to take you directly to it just below in our signature line.
If you'd like to know more details, etc. please just give us a call or shoot us an email, our contact info is just below as well.

Hi Clifton,
Hmmm, if you ordered it from us here at Performance Products, you would have received your Superchip sticker right in the box with your Superchip, as every Superchip we ship gets the Superchip sticker, we've been doing that for months now.
It's the last thing that gets added, and each shipment is chekced for that sticker and all of the documentation before each box is closed, we have very strict QA procedures in place to make sure everyone gets their documentation, as we write a lot of additional documentation that is much more detailed than the manufacturers instructions, and the sticker.
It used to be that everyone had to contact the manufacturer directly to get a sticker, and we finally were able to talk them into having many more printed, so that there would be plenty for everyone who buys a Superchip. I would suggest contacting whoever you purchased it from, and asking them for your sticker, as the manufacturer provides those stickers with every single Superchip. We just did a quick check and didn't see your name in our computer records, so I'm assuming you purchased it elsewhere. If you feel that is in error, and that you did purchase it from us here at Performance Products, please do us a favor and shoot us an email with the name your Superchip was purchased from us under and the date, and we'll go back through our hard-copy records to confirm, ok? Thanks!
