Question 4.2L V6 - Towing

What is the max I can pull with a 97 4.2L Extended Cab, Short Bed, with automatic tranny? I thought it was somewhere between 5,000 and 5,500 lbs. Thanks

Doesn't it depend on the rear differential? I know mine is rated at around 3500 with the manual tranny, but that's only because it came with the 3.55 diff.

check the manual or call the local ford dealership. i have a '00 sc with 3.55 gears and my max is 5,500lbs(trailer weight),but,i have a auto. trans. i think the '00 manual with 3.55 is around 3300 or 3500.
