Slight vibrations in 4.2 5 speed
I have noticed a slight vibration around 2000 rpm. The Ford Service says that it's normal for the 4.2. I wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing this vibration. I know dealers will tell you this to get you out the door.
mine vibrates all the time. you drive a truck dude, what do yall expect? a smooth ride? get a cadillac if you want a smooth ride. trucks were invented for work, not comfort.
sorry i had to vent
i get a light vibration at about 3000 RPM i will pay attention at 2000 next time and let u know

Hey Guy's, I have a vibration as well. Of course it is nothing major, just enough to make a drink tremble. I thought I was over reacting. Mine happens all the time, but sometimes it goes away depending on the road it's self. That is one of the reasons that I have dismissed this problem. the gear shifter would wiggle back and fourth just enough so that it would look blurred. I'm only talking about 2-3mm of vibrations. I've just gotten used to it I guess. It is definitly not engine related. I took a ride in my Dads 00 Ranger SC 4X4 ORP and that thing rode like a tank. I had low riders that were softer. After that I was happy with my plush ride.

My 4.2 5 speed vibrated when i first got it. Then one day I noticed trany fluid under my truck. Found the fluid coming from the fill plug. When i took the plug out more fluid came out. Seems like the tranny was over full from the factory, or after its first lube job. Truck doesnt seem to vibrate as much now.
Mine didn't vibrate until I got my cat-back dumped. Now it's a freakin' earthquake in there. You gotta remember it's a regular cab short bed, with an exhaust exit right under their almost.
But I love the sound!!! Thinking about dynomatting my whole interior. Anyone done this? Three questions: How much cost?/dynomat used? and How long did it take

Yea, for such a heavy truck the v6 definitely does seem a little faster than another v6 I've driven. Why you ask? Did you put a supercharger on it?
Just kiddin' man.
