someone, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
Alright heres the thing. The other day I got in my truck to go to work, it started fine, but it surged badley. I thought it might go away when I put it into gear and drove it for a minute, it didnt it actually got worse and the truck started to backfire! I let it warm up and the idle surge went down alot but it was still there. There was also a strong smell of raw fuel comming out of my left exhaust pipe. some how I think I dropped a cylinder on my left bank but the odd thing is I am not getting a "malfunction indicator lamp" so I dont think I fouled a plug, wire, or coil. I also disconnected the ignition and pulled the chip out and the problem was still very evident. I dont want to think it but I think I tosted one of my exhaust valves, but I am hoping I didnt.
Please any suggestions, I am at a very big loss here!

Hi f150freak,
You did the smart first move, removing your chip to see if it had come loose, as that can certainly cause those kinds of symptoms.
It sounds like it may be time to let your dealer have a look at it, even though the check engine light isn't coming on. Let us know what they find if you take it in.
Sorry I can't be of more help to you, & good luck!

When you removed your chip did you reset the computer by disconnecting the negative battery cable and turning on the headlights to discharge all the power, I would also let it stand disconnected for and hour if you can.
F150freak, Dont want you to think I could care less, but I have no freakin clue what the hell you are talking about and second Mike in the thought that you should take it in and let ford mess with it. Who knows, they might be able to fix it.
Well guys, thanks for the suggestions but the problem has been fixed already. Kinda pisses me off at what the problem was, but I am glad that I paied a $15 fix instead of the pain, hassel, and headache of a dealer visit. The problem was BAD GASOLINE! Go figure. The chip has already been reinstaslled, ignition reconnected, and the truck is driving perfectly now
