Post Throttle body soon!?

I shot a message to supersixmotorsports.com about a TB for our engines and this was the reply.

"We're looking at a 66mm TB now for an off the shelf solution for a larger TB."

Things are slowely going our way.

Heres the full response from Mike Y. of www.supersixmotorsports.com

You 97 up 4.2 F-150 guys are in luck, there actually is quite a bit for you. Lets look:

1. Unlike the 99-01 3.8, you guys can use an underdrive crank pulley.
2. Our custom ground cams work great in the 4.2, we have cores in stock.
3. Our ported heads work great on the 4.2, we have cores in stock.
4. We even have access to both upper and lower intake cores for porting.
5. We can even provide complete 4.2 PowerPaks for the 97 up F-150.
6. About the Vortech, as soon as Vortech releases the kit for the 99-01 3.8 Mustang, it should adapt readily to the 4.2 but some minor supercharger outlet ducting will be required since your throttle body sits right up fron as opposed to the Stangs which is angled on the passenger side. Speaking of Vortech, if you go to their site, they have a poll for new applications, both the 3.8 Stang and 4.2 F-150 are there, so tell the 4.2 F-150 community to go there and vote for the 99-01 3.8 Stang and the 97 up 4.2 F-150, they're very similar, so the development could be spread out between both applications.
7. The 94-98 3.8 Stang header bolts right onto your heads, you'd have to look at clearances at steering shaft, how it connects to exhaust sytem, etc. Also, the 99-01 3.8 Stang header will bolt on as well, but same potential issues with the collector pattern, location, etc.
8. We're looking at a 66mm TB now for an off the shelf solution for a larger TB.
9. We'll soon have oversize forged pistons for 4.3L displacement, developed as part of our 4.3L stroker kits for the 3.8.
10. Once you get some mods done, go for a performance chip.
11. Local fabricate a good dual exhaust system.
12. Bigger gears in the rear, etc.

Yes, the trend does seem to be moving our way.
www.rpm-mustnags.com pretty much said exactly what supersix motorsports said about makings this thing (4.2) fly.
"a cam will net 5-40 additional hp,depending on current engine mods"
They also suggested the porting thing. These shops seem to agree on what to do with our motor.

Any body install or do any of this work?

Be nice to do all that before getting a supercharger. ( wheeeeeeeeee)

I was doing some reading about Kenny Browns mustang(4.2L 245 hp) that was at sema. It said that Kenny Brown designed a conversion for a Ford Racing 70mm throttle body.I shot them an email asking them about it and a possible application on our trucks.Maybe there is hope for a throttle body. I will post their reply.

Well here is what they said and I quote "before selling you the parts or entailing what is involved, I would have to see the vehicle". I think they want to make big bucks off of people. Oh well.

>edit< Just got some pics of my truck and I ought to send them some.lol( I am sure the would want the truck in their shop)

Let me ask a question. What price would you
guys pay and what size do you want? I'd
estimate $220 for 65 and $300 for 70 and 75mm
TBs. Would some of you really pay this or
should I not bother. I have tig welded up the
design, I even have one here, I just asked
this awhile back and didn't get much response
and got discouraged. Let me know if you
guys are honestly interested given the
stated prices.

Gaston,
I am interested, but not right now. When summer rolls around I *should* be ready for that kind of mod.Right now, nothing will get done to my truck until tax return time gets here, Then its porting and polishing and headers.June 10th is a ball park date for when the blower will be in my budget. after that the throttle body would start looking real good.
