ok! i have a new 2000 4x4 w/4.2L 5spd.
i just ran over my 8000 mile mark.
Is there any problems anyone has had at any mile mark with a 2000 4.2L?
i just had another oil change w/tire rotation. If going to have the front end checked for alignment (i think its free before 12,000 if it needs it)
so far the truck is great! i love it.
planning on going up north to do a little trail riding before winter. can't wait to see how it dose on the trail!

Gotmud ,I have a 2000xlt 4.2L 3.55GEAR . IT only has 3500 miles ,my only complaint is a noisey dash board.I have not had a chance to take it to the dealer.

I also have a Noise dash. as in it vibrates some times at serton RPMs it dosen't do it all the time and not at the same RPMs.
Most of the time i just speed up or slow down! and it stops.
But i was more wanting to know about the drive train.

Gotmud , no drivetrain problems here although when creeping along in traffic 25mph or less the transmission seems slow to shift.must be a ford trait according to the message board. I am going to try the superchip I read that it will change the shift points. 2000 xlt 4.2L

20,000 miles (32,000 km) on mine and no mechanical problems whatsoever. I've just got a water leak from my driver's side grab handle -- posted under Other Body. I'll check that out this weekend.

A year old in a week and never been back to the dealer. Mine's a 4X2.

Other than the rusty fuel injector issue I posted, I've had nothing but good to say.
Great bang for the buck, I want some better tires/lower gears and I want a skid plate for the front.
