I have a 98 F150 4.2L V6 Supercab 2WD. It's my baby but she is running a little rough lately. When taking off from a light I step on the gas and the truck feels like it's going to shut down. After a few hesitations, it will accelerate just fine. Also, when cruising at about 55mph(+/-), I will push on the gas to accelerate and the engine feels like it is skipping. I'm sure it's not the transmission. I have changed the plugs with MotorCraft (with no change). I have also pulled the battery connection for the night (reset the chip). Then next day my baby did seem to run better (maybe wishful thinking) but not for long...a day or two later it's back to the same thing. I'm not really into modifying...just want a good looking Ford truck that runs great.

I also want to change the fuel filter...is there anything important I may need to know before doing this????

Any ideas will be most appreciated!!!!!

 

Just for the record...I do know how to spell "cruising"...it's amazing what you notice after the fact.
