Mike,
For those of us with the superchip do we need to get it reprogramed to accomadate a FIPK?

2000 150 sport solid white, K&N filterpack the rest is still stock....for now anyway!

Excellent! Finally, an FIPK kit for the V-6 F-150's, excellent!
For anyone who may be interested, using an airbox elimination kit has always been the #2 most cost-effective modification on the V-8's, and it will be the same on the V-6's as well.
These kits give excellent results, and are well worth their cost. By all means, contact Roger Lemere through the Digital Marketplace here on F150online for details.
The V-6 ownersd have been waiting a long time for a similar kit, nice to see it's been done!

To All Concerned,
The dyno gains are very clear with the airbox elimination kits, and it's due to the reduction in restriction, plain and simple. They have shown consistent gains of 12 flywheel hp on the 4.6 V-8 F-150, and 14 flywheel hp on the 5.4 V-8 F-150. It's too soon to know what the kits for the 4.2 V-6 will actually show, but they use the very same type of restrictive factory airbox, and I expect the gains to be basically the same in terms of a percentage of increase. (And no, we don't sell them.)
The fact is that the positioning of those units provides about the coolest airstream possible short of a true cold-air inlet, it's not taking hot air off the manifold of the engine. The fact that it no longer uses the inlet thru the fender does not mean that it cannot or does not increase horsepower, and assuming that is does is a mistake. Try doing some actual air inlet temperature measurments for both configurations sometime. Think about that factory airbox, itself sitting in the same hot underhood environment. If you ever do, and compare the two, you'll quickly find that under the vast majority of circumstances, there is not a big effective difference in the actual temperature of the air coming in, either thru the fender inlet to the factory airbox, or to the K&N air filter at the end of either the Airaid or the K&N airbox elimination kits. Some people think that it's worst in the summer, idling in traffic, that the terrible, bad underhood air must be substantially hotter than what comes into the fender inlet; that is, what comes into the fender inlet and into the hot underhood factory airbox after the air visibly shimmers up off the scorching hot pavement in traffic, to say nothing of the actual location of the inlet air temperature sensor.
The whole key here is the reduction in restriction. The difference in inlet air temperature is nowhere near enough to come anywhere close to negating the actual power gains from the reduction of restriction.
There are numerous ways to increase power by reducing restriction, whether it's modifying the factory airbox, or whatever method you want to use, of course. But the airbox elimination kits are clear power-gainers, that are a nice way to have a finished kit to do the job.
The ultimate would be to have a true ram-air setup, combined with relocating the IAT sensor into the cold airstream for maximum gains.

Mike Troyer is shedding light on the subject? All I see is conjecture with no facts. Until Mike presents data proving that sucking 100 degree hotter underhood air is not detrimental to performance, I would take what he says with a grain of salt.
The ACT (air charge temperature) sensor is an input to the EEC module. When inlet temperature goes up, timing is pulled out. Less timing equals less power. Why do you think the auto companies go to such great lengths to get air outside of the engine compartment? I have done this testing for one of the big three auto companies (guess which one?) and power suffers when you are sucking hot underhood air! That is the simple truth. On the dyno, tests are run with the hood open and a big fan blowing cool air over the engine. Turn that fan off and shut the hood, then run your power numbers. The results will be completely different.

I will not waste our mutual time & efforts here participating in a personal argument that has nothing to do with the actual facts at hand. I stand by what I said, and everyone is welcome to form their own opinion; hopefully it will be based on fact from experience, rather than a guess from someone who has never actually done proper dyno testing to determine the facts about this type of component.
The simple truth is that the airbox elimination kits work, and work very well indeed. The only way each individual person will ever know is to try one, plain and simple. And that is exactly what hundreds of fellow F150online participants have done, and reported back right here with very favorable reviews. That could not happen time after time after time if the product didn't perform, very simple. I'll take the word of hundreds of people right here on F150online with direct, hands-on experience any day, in addition to what I posted.
By the way, making the *assumption* that every chassis dyno pull, everywhere, is always done with the hood open, is a mistake.
