V6 exhaust experiment
Was bored this week end and decided to put my stock exhaust with a rhino muffler back on to see if there was any difference between the stock 2.5" and the 3" gibson.I found the low end torque came back from about 1500 rpms to 3000, was greatly improved for around town driving didn't have to upshift as much can leave it in fourth or fifth in town much longer.the throttle response is better as it seems quicker off the line with just a little throttle.the gibson is quieter but you do lose some low end.it would be a little slow off the but as you gained speed it would build up speed fairly quick.the torque with the gibson seemed to be in the 2500 to 3500 rpm range so in town it seemed i had to shift more often.on the highway is where it did best.at highway speeds and in fifth it had plenty of power when you gave it gas to pass or speed up, so for towing or a lot of highway driving i would think that is the system to get but for just driving around town i think staying at 2.5" and changing the muffler is the way to go.btw i had a drone in the cab the first time i had the rhino muffler on, this time i had a longer head pipe made,5 bucks, and positioned the muffler so it was under the farthest heat sheild and not under the cab, cured the drone so maybe this will help others who have a drone in the cab.any other questions let em rip.
