5-speeds notchy going into 3rd gear
I got my truck brand new about three weeks ago with the 5-speed, the only thing is when I shift to 3rd gear (either up or down)I really feel the synchronizers (or something) click or pop. Does anyone else have a tranny that feels notchy going into 3rd or should I be talking to the dealer about some warranty work?

Mine does the same thing. Except mine does it going from 3rd to 4th. You depress the clutch and hear a clicking sound. I've learned to live with it. If it breaks, then that's what warranty is for.
I also have a hard time shifting from 1st to 2nd.
OH why didn't I get a auto????????

"Notchy" shifting into 3rd gear is a fairly common complaint on both the F-150's and the Rangers with 5-speeds. Even some 5.0 Mustangs have this. One thing to do if you haven't already, is to make sure you have synthetic fluid in the transmission. It won't cure it, but it does tend to help somewhat.
It would be nice if somebody in the aftermarket would come out with a nice Hurst or other aftermarket shifter for these vehicles.

That would be nice, Superchip Dist! I must say that my truck at 34,000 miles shifts great! Maybe I'm too slow or something but I have no complaints on my 5-speed. Am I the only one? Maybe I should shut up or Ford will come down and take my truck away from me...
