my 04 also did this. bought it with 23k, traded it with 44k, always did it. my aftermarket shift **** has a threaded piece that goes over the allen screws that hold the **** on and it would come loose every so often and rattle. with my 08 i was able to tighten it better so it hasnt come loose yet. but my 08's shifter has shaken since it was new. im sure yours moves a little. even my 97 ranger with the I4's shifter shook.

Honestly, my shifter only rattles a little when going over bumps. I even just went and checked and it doesn't move at idle. Maybe it's because the dealer tightened some bolts because the entire shifter was pretty lose. However, the shifter was only loose after the dealer messed with it the first time.

My dyno tune smoothed out my idle a bit, but i wouldnt say it was a rough idle to start with. The intake on my truck was causing it to run lean, which was fixed with the tune. Would a lean condition cause a truck to have a rough idle?

I'm new to all of this so forgive my ignorance but what exactly does a tune do? I know on my last truck the dealer said my timing was off and they set everything back to factory tune.
Thanks,
Glen

Having trouble with my 98 Ford 150 4.2 econoline van. Runs ok at regular speeds however when you get to a light or stop I have to take it out of gear or it will run irregular and finally stop running. Any ideas where to start????

Could be the plenum gasket and bolts, is it throwing any codes? ( P0171, P0174)If so probably the plenum leaking (vacume leak)

my truck idles really smooth at 82K.

i had my plugs changed at around 71K, have changed my fuel filter every 30K and I run some injector cleaner every few oil changes, and I use full synthetic oil, changed every 7 - 10K

Mine started idling rough when the plenum gaskets and isolator bolts were shot. It also threw a IMRC code.

fuel filters dont have to be changed every 10 to 12000miles your guys are crazy if you put sand in your gas tank then sure but theres not dont buy gas at small ****ty stations and do it once every year when you do your trans fuild change which no one ever does and is way more important but everyones too busy changing there fuel filters i guess anywas your ROUGH IDLE is due to the idle air control ( on top of the intake needs to be cleaned if not changed) or you may have a vacumm leak check your DTC codes to see)
