high flow oil filters?
Anyone have ideas on permanent filters to replace the cold air intake filters on '10 GT-500's? JLT is out of them & doesn't know when they'll make more. K&N doesn't make one. Dealer is not gonna Jack me for $160 on a disposable paper filter when a permanent filter costs around $60!
Raptor05121 - Why the hell do you keep trying to pass your Bull here, (?)- you've been busted before, but apparently haven't learned anything.
That's just sad.
Also, on the same site, - the Nano Filter is recommended (Dry element).

I've been using what the manufacturer suggests, -since they engineered the engine and not me. That would be a blend. Glad I have, It's still runs great @ 272,000 miles.
I feel the same way as alot of people do about he K&N air filters. They flow more air, but they also flow more dirt and crap into my motor. I don't run one in my truck, and I especially will not run one in my motorcycle. Last thing I want to do is screw up the motor on either of my babies.
A good OEM equivalent air filter is just fine for me on both machines.
However, I do have a K&N Typhoon intake setup on my mom's Dodge Neon. Damn stock airbox screws were seized up, and I got the K&N setup for cheaper than an OEM replacement airbox. It came with the slip-on rain sock thing for it, so that helps keep some of the crap out of the motor. I would have preferred to put something else on the car, but it was my dad's idea, and I'm not gonna argue with him on what he wants done to his or my mom's car.

the k&n filters probably do let in more dust and debris but i know for a fact that they give more horse power. my friend bought a scan gauge for his truck and checked his stats before and after putting in the filter in and it gained 3 hp
Just so you know - A Scanguage is not going to supply accurate or consistent HP measurements. It is simply displaying the inferred HP PID; output inferred from other data. You can run it 10 times and get 10 different results. I know, because I've done it. It is grossly inaccurate and variable.
Want to confirm it? do a double-blind test.
A dyno is the only method - and even that can vary. And dyno pulls by independent shops (not the manufacturers or other special interests) have long proven the gains are, at best, 0-1hp... in other words well within measurement margin-of error.
Sorry. The only sure thing is the fact that they are reusable and can save money over the life of the filter by eliminating paper element replacement.
