timing chain 4.2 how long do they last??

As posted years ago, the 4.2 timing sets should last the life of the engine. It's a simple OHV setup with a balance shaft, not OHC with long chains.

I'm not a mechanic or anything. But my dad taught me a little. And he always said in an older vehicle its good to replace a timing chain every 80-100 thousand miles

You can replace them if you want, but you are just wasting time and money.
