My son was an in a pretty serious accident that basically totalled his 97 F150 Std Cab. It had a rebuilt engine with 12,000 miles on it and a manual transmission. We found an almost identical truck with a blown engine and an automatic transmission.

We decided to swap the 4.2L engines. We intend to pull the blown engine and trans as one piece. Figure it would be easier to get it out and we can also have the transmission checked out before we reuse it. Once we pull the rebuilt engine and attach it to the auto trans, we'll be placing it back in the "new" truck.

Anything we should watch out for or any suggestions while doing this?
