Oil pressure problem?

I started my truck this morning....(99 150 4.2 160000 miles, auto trans) the oil lite went out, but the guage did not come up, I turned it off immiediatly, checked the oil, it was at proper level.....
started it again, the guage came up, but it seemed to take 10 seconds or so...any thoughts, experiences, do i need a new pump....how hard it is to change?
Thanks for any help....

You may just need to change the oil and replace the oil filter. You may just have a flaky sending unit.

the wifes explorer did the exact same thing and it was a oil sending unit about 100 bucks and it fixed it. It would only do it on the first start of the day.

I hope that 100 bucks included labor and a reacharound..........

A sender is $27.79 at Rockauto.com.

Yea i know but it was in for warranty work and the warranty didnt cover that item so i either had to pay them for the diagnostics or the 100 bucks for the sending unit. It was cheaper than to pay for the diagnostics
