Question F150 1991 strange problem warming up engine! Sputters!

Hello,

I have been to 3 shops trying to fix this weird problem. The truck takes about 20 minutes to warm up in the morning, the truck runs really rough and sputters, the Engine light turns on sometimes. After about 20 minutes the truck runs fine, no problems at all. I had the Truck tuned up, timing, plugs, and one shop replaced the Oxygen Sensor. The truck only does this in the morning, after that it runs fine driving home from work. Any ideas? Thanks so much!

I had this problem with my dads expedition. We took it to a shop and it ended up being something with the throttle. From what I remember, they replaced the throttle plate, and something else (i'll have to check the bill) But ever since then it doesn't sputter, or anything. It acted like a lawn mower with the choke left on.

Hespen537,

Thanks for the info, do you remember how much it cost to have it fixed?

Thanks.

We had a lot done to it besides that. But I think just for fixing that part it was about $150-ish. Thats really rough though. We had the plugs, front end alligned and oil changed while we were in the shop. The entire bill was around $1000. And thats with labor included. So Im not sure how much different it would be with less hours of labor along with the part. So Roughly anywhere from $150-200 range.
