Intermittent no start

Hi all, just joined today and I need help. What I have is a 2000 F150, Xl 4.2 with 67500 miles. Bought in 2001. Last week went fishing, pulled the truck up to park. When I came back, no start, would turn over fine just no start. After a lot of BS and having to be pulled up the ramp by a…..I hate to say a Chevy, a $130.00 tow bill home. I get in the thing the next morning and it starts right up. Drive it all over town that day, no problems. Next day, no start. Replaced the fuel pump relay and PCM relay because they had given me trouble before, no start. Get in it this afternoon, starts right up. I know it is something not letting the fuel pump start because I can’t hear the pump run when it doesn’t start but do when it does start. Any ideas where to look? Could the fuel pump be bad and just working when it wants to or is there another relay outside of the under hood fuse box I don’t know about? Not throwing any codes, no indications, nothing. It's driving me nuts. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Im not that knowledgable, but could it be fuel pump. I know if they overheat they will lock out until it cools down?

Fuel pump/filter issue?
O2 sensor?
Leaky pump check valve?
