That's about what I'm getting in city driving with mine. The only way to help it is try to find gas without ethanol and keep your foot out of the firewall.

Get an underdrive pulley & electric fans to free parasitic drag. Then you can monitor it all with a Scan Gauge II.

Thanks guys about how much do the E-fans usually cost. I think my clutch is bad on my fan anyway.

There is a setup in the classified section for a Fexilite 270 kit.

Ask Patman03SprCrw about all the efans stuff. He is the resident expert.

Price: $429.00
PPI-EFK1604
Troyer Performance Dual 16" Electric Fan Kit for 2004 & up Ford F-150 featuring our new custom-fabricated mounting brackets!!

Power gains from this kit run anywhere from a low of 12 RWHP to as much as 19 RWHP at the rear wheels, and throttle response is improved *everywhere* - at any speed, throttle position or rpm, thanks to completely eliminating the parasitic loss from the heavy factory mechanical fan & clutch assembly. And since the engine is no longer having to turn that heavy mass of the factory mechanical fan, there are usually some nice mpg improvements as well - a "win-win" type of modification! MPG gain reports range anywhere from a low of about 1.0 mpg to as much as 2.5 more mpg in the 2004 & up F-150 5.4 3V vehicles (your results will vary based on how the vehicle is operated & maintained, the terrain, fuel quality, etc.).

This system provides a whopping 5500+ CFM's (roughly double what is required for the new F-150's), enough to support the cooling needs of a 750+ HP supercharged engine in the hottest desert temperatures! This system has been thoroughly tested in numerous climate extremes and conditions, including testing in temperatures ranging from 30 degrees below zero (not including the wind chill!) all the way up to a blistering 117 degrees, and works like a champ in any weather.

Important Note:
Gasoline engines generally make their absolute highest power output and get the best fuel mileage when the engine coolant temperature is in the 200-210 degree range. This is why your stock factory thermostat is generally a 192 degree unit, and why we recommend sticking with it in most cases. If you are doing any kind racing, or if you need to tow heavy loads in hot weather, etc., you can drop down to a 180 degree thermostat if you like & simply set the electric fan turn-on temperatures accordingly, thanks to the flexibility provided in this kit. We recommend that you DO NOT use any thermostat rated at lower than 180 degrees in these computer-controlled vehicles, or you will not get the best power or fuel economy, and might even experience driveability symptoms, MIL lights on the dash, loss of heater function in cold weather, etc.

Underdrive pulley systems increase engine horsepower by reducing the amount of power required to drive external engine accessories. For example, the alternator, power steering, water pump and air compressor rob horsepower from the engine. By replacing factory-sized crank and accessory drive pulleys with a resized pulley, the accessories are slowed, resulting in more horsepower available to the drive wheels. Typically, a set of Auto Specialties street pulleys will increase horsepower by 12-15, and increase mileage by 2 to 3 MPG. All pulleys are manufactured from Billet Steel or Aluminum, exceeding factory quality.

The payback time on E-fans and underdrive pulleys is measured in years. Yes, your mileage will improve, but the cost of those mods will buy a LOT of gas. The performance will increase, and I'd bet that you will be enjoying it more, thereby bringing the mileage back down some.

Maybe my mileage is a little better than I though. I've driven 336 miles since the last fill up and still have almost 1/4 tank left. That's the 26gal tank.
