Talking my winter project help me out guys!!!!

alright guys im 16. i have a 2000 f-150 4.2l v6. right now its all stock except for my k&n air filter. i want to race it in the student drag in the spring so i have all winter to work on it. parts that i was looking into are throttle body spacer, fuel injectors, fuel pump, small nitrous kit( dont want to blow the motor so im keepin it small possiably a sneakey pete kit), new fuel lines, cat back exhaust(cant get headers for a v6 ), ignition box, performance coil, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, piston rings, performance oil cooler, performance cams, lifters, valve springs, push rods, rocker arms, performance valves, timing set, performance water pump, aluminum radiator, electric fans, ring and pinion gear set, mass airflow sensor, cold air intake. basically im posting this so you guys can send me your sugestions for these parts. quailty isnt key for me since this truck has 200000 miles on it. just roled over today sad moment. most of your are thinking why dont you just put a new motor in this. ive been searching for a 4.6 or a 5.4 with a tranny and i cant find a decent priced one anywhere. so im just doing this for now. i need as much help as i can get with my winter project. people told me that no one can race a truck on a quarter mile. so basically im doing this to get them to shut there mouth cause trucks are the way to go and ill never drive anythign other than ford!!! so other sugestions are good. if you have used parts i can use send them to me im very intrested. my email is Nitronicholas3999@hotmail.com im always on always availble so hit me up whenever the more help i get with this project the better. links to parts would be good. and remember the cheaper the better. thanks guy

STAY AWAY FROM THE THROTTLE BODY SPACER!!!!!!

Headers can be found for our trucks, search eBay for MAC headers, or Gibson makes some $$$ ones.....

Everything else is doable, but you will definitely need custom tuning!!

And you will only be running maybe 14's when all is said and done...it won't be that fast either. To get decent power out of a 4.2, you need about $10k, and a years time to twiddle with stuff.

Seeing as how you're ripping the hell out of the truck anyways, why not swap in a 351 or a 460? Much cheaper to mod and tons of more parts.

yea, what zaairman said, look for a old 351 or 460 to rebuild!

There are plenty of parts out there to do it!

You're gutting your entire engine. It'd be way cheaper to build a carbed 351 or 460 and swap that in, especially because it seems like you don't care if the truck holds up or not after the races. You could build a hell of a 460 + tranny for under $3000. Your V-6 project will easily cost you $5000 plus, not to mention that you still won't be making squat for power.

id like to be able to keep it fuel injected and a motor that will mount up so i dont have to get new mounts and do modifications that i wont understand. id like to be able to drive the truck for maby another year after the races. but if it dies its not the end of the world. reason for keepin it fuel injected its less work. thanks
