v6 are pretty strong, in my old one I beat a friend with a 05 4.6L. I had throttle body spacer and underdrive pulley, didnt really add much and he was stock, but only beat him by a fender..I sold my old truck to another friend raced him in my stock 99 5.4L and smoked him..like everybody else says if you spend alot of money and time into a 4.2L anything is possible..but same with the 5.4 or 4.6 just who has deeper pockets
