i just convert my litres to gallons and kilometers to miles. good ol metric system haha. i do my calculations myself which everyone should do if they want an accurate reading. never trust the guages on the dash or even the one on my edge. they are not even close to accurate.

I don't care what engine or transmission you have or how you drive - getting 20 mpg out of a full size 1/2 ton pickup truck is doing very well.

Smile 29.5 mpg

Another Canucklehead here. I have always calculated mileage in Imperial MPG. That's what I grew up with and my brain is calibrated that way. I have driven professionally since I got licensed (long ago) and know how drive conservatively (fuelwise). On a recent road trip with my new '08XL ( 5 speed, 3.31 rear end) I went 625.7 km. and used 60 litres of fuel. That's 29.5 MPG, or 24.5 U.S.
I'm happy with that.

im hoping to see those kind of numbers once i break in my VMP 87 mileage tune i just recently got. My first ever trip with it wasnt the best to calculate. got 19.8 on half a tank(12.5 gal) and then on the way home managed to average about 18.5, with a 25+ mph headwind, and A/C on the entire 4 hour drive. and i dont think it helped since i was running on Wally World gas...

but first trip back to school, i will let you know what i get. 300 mi usually takes me about 3/4 of my tank, but i have done it in little over 1/2 before. highest i have ever seen on the trip was 19.3. and i was ecstatic!

I must be getting seriously screwed here. When I drive from Columbia, SC down to Orlando I am lucky to get 450 out of a tank. And that is ALL highway cruising. I would love to get 20mpg

Trucks come with 3.31 gears now? I didn't really like it when they came with 3.55. All trucks should come with 4.10 gears.

That was running on fumes. But it was closer to 17ish. I max out just under 26 gallons (fiance ran it empty before lol). By the way has anyone noticed a real difference with the airbox mod and k&n? Just curious before i start hacking apart my truck

yeah but if you max it out full you can fit half a gallon or so in the gooseneck. always have to take that into account also

anything done to the truck? i had an 04 heritage V6 5spd and got 18.9 average consistantly going 55-60 with some hills, the i got a K&N drop in replacement and got 19.9 average, the i got a K&N CAI and got 25.6 on the first tank because your computer gets a lot more air than its used to but it evened out to about 22.5-23 average. but even horsing it a bit i got 19mpg with the intake. i no longer have the heritage, i have the intake and an 08 f150 V6 but the intake wont fit becuase of the valve vent tube thing. its bigger in the 08 than it was in the 04 so i have to modify the intake a lil bit to make it fit. everything else is the same tho. just that stupid tube is bigger.
