Aftermarket Fan?
Aftermarket Fan?
I was looking at a Dual 15-inch Electric Puller Fan, 5500 CFM for about 500 bucks, its says it will increase my horse power by 29 and torque by 16 but i do not know if its worth getting one? Will aftermarket cooling fans really give me that much better performance? any info will be nice, thanks.

An electric fan is a great mod, but you don't need 5500 cfm, you don't need expensive dual fans on a 4.2 and you wont get gain anywhere near 29hp.
FWIW, I live in a very hot climate and have a Flex-A-Lite Black Magic universal fan kit on my 4.2. I think it is like 1,600 cfm. It cost me about $180 through Summit about 7 years ago and it has been 100% reliable over the last 110,000 miles. It was a bit of a PITA to install.
Our stock fans are heavy, that's for sure. Spinning it does take some hp and energy, but I really did not notice much (if any) power gain. It did add at least 0.5 mpg (maybe more, hard to say as my mileage always varies).

I have been doing a lot of research and the Taurus two speed fan puts out around 3000 to 3800 cfm. and the Lincoln Mark VIII fan puts out a whopping 4300 cfm. You can pick up either fan for under $50 at an U pull it.
I just picked up the Lincoln Mark VII (same as the taurus fan) for $25... Next a DCcontrol.com controller, by far the best on the market. Ramps fan to speed eliminating the voltage spike. Little pricey $119 for the kit with temp probe, but extremely reliable, very simple hook up and only four wires, no relays, great product. The Mustang forums and Corvette forums swear by these controllers. only warning is they are slow to deliver, sometimes up to four weeks. Next I am looking for the famous Lincoln Mark VIII fan. By the way the DC control site uses the taurus and lincoln fan if you want a kit. There price is only $339 for the entire setup. Beats the heck out of the other kits out there. I found the 18 inch fans that is in the lincoln is also in the thunderbird. Same seimans motor and shroud. Just got one today for $29 at the local yard, and it is two speed. So Thunderbirds also have the monster fan....good luck everyone.
