Which fuel line removal tool were you using? I've got one of the cheapo plastic sets (cost about $10) from Auto Zone and it works like a charm. Changing the fuel filter only takes a couple of minutes with the right tool.

I use the metal fuel line disconnect tool, i've use it before on other vehicles and it worked ok, my couplings were just bad and wouldn't release...but that tool that you got looks to work like a charm, im gonna have to look into getting one
