Looking for the plastic upper intake manifold for a 2005 4.2 V6, dealer wants $500 and you cant find these anywhere! I had an intake detonation at 48K miles (dealers here are morons) and now I can't claim warranty. Also does anyone know if the intake runner control valves are supposed to be bent or flat?. I drive a black XL regcab std 145WB 3.55LS

 

I hate to say it but I think you are screwed on this one. Check with your local scrap yards. I had my pendilum (sp) go out on my truck (the pos plastic below the intake manifold) and it cost around 400 to get it replaced (290 for the part).

Best and quickest bet is to get ahold of a junk yard or truck wrecking place... but still then you have to make sure that one is good and wont go out or ya end up with 2 dirty paper weights.

right, these things are just short of 500 around here. Actually, I had an intake detonation and I'm gonna need a whole new motor-i've found plenty more wrong with everything. It'll be expensive, but she brings home the daily bread so its worth it. Thanx for the input.
