I am replaceing the power steering seal ring (small white plastic ring) on the end of the ps hose going into the box. Does the small ring go all the way down to the bottom of the threads or just over the first couple of threads. I had to soften up the ring just to get in on the threads. Any help appreciated.

It needs to go all the way down to the groove at the bottom of the fitting.
