Engine Date Code

I have a 1997 F-150. I looked for build date code for my engine on my driver's side valve cover, but the sticker is pretty much worn off, and it can't be read. Is there any other way to find out what my engine build date was? The sticker on the door says 10/96, but I believe that is for the truck only??

There is no other way to get the exact engine build date than the valve cover label.

An estimate of anywhere from several days to several weeks before the vehicle build date is about as close as you will be able to get without the valve cover label.
