Another Ranger Defector Here
Another Ranger Defector Here
Hey y'all.
I'm currently running a '94 ranger (3.0L V6 auto, ~160HP modded) but I'm not happy with it. In order to get anywhere you really need to put your foot into it. I was thinking of defecting to the full size camp soon.
A buddy of mine is selling his F150 because he decided to go chevy. His old truck is a 2001 F150 "Sport" 4.2L V6 auto 4x2 supercab with 100k kms. It has a custom dash, billet grille and full tint, but the engine is still bone stock. He is asking $10,000 canadian (~$8,950 USD) for it, to cover the cost of recent repairs (tie rod ends), detailing package and new brakes.
So the ignorant danger ranger owner has a few questions. First off, will a 202HP 4.2L V6 in a full size truck be any more responsive than my old 160HP 3.slow litre V6? And also, do you think that this is a fair asking price for a 2WD V6 F150?
Thanks a lot guys.

Well the 4.2 has more power, but also consider that the f150 is heavier than a ranger. My dad has a ranger with the 3.0, and my f-150 V6 4x2 seems to have a smoother, more responsive powertrain. And my F-150 seems to ride alot better suspension-wise. The ranger has a horrible ride from what ive experianced in my dads truck.
That price seems fair, or maybe just a bit steep. Id probably offer him 8,000(u.s.), but thats just me. Check the blue book value and go from there. I paid $6000 for mine, but the dealer really wanted to move it.
