Need to know what you all think?

I have my 04 Heritage F-150 V-6 4X4 with a 5 speed,

I have already put a Gibson SS SI/SO exhuast and a Airaid cold intake kit.

I'm thinking of putting the Gibson exhasut headers and adding a chip. Dose this sound good, will it help to add more power? Also can I add more low-end power to my truck?

Thanks

Also where can I get fender flares?

Better gears, get a turbo/supercharger, and get the mods I listed in the post "more HP"--a few threads away from this one... Good luck

gears and chip would be good, headers would be ok.
there's no one out there that sells a turbo/sc kit but if you do it yourself it would be the best for adding power. i don't know of anyone who's went forced induction on the new body style V6 F150's

You could add a bunch of junk to it, shortening the life of your truck and causing numerous problems along the way, or you could just accept that you have a full size pickup with a V6.

I suppose a chip would be next. Sometimes a chip requires switching to Super unleaded to get the most out of it. This may give you a boost on bottom end. I suppose this is acheived by advancing the spark. Check out the chip sites like Hypertech for the information and dyno charts.

For the money you're spending you might have been better off to get a 5.4 if power is your main concern.

I use my truck for work, and some times I load it with a lot of weight, which when you go drive you have to floor it to get it to move. I want more lower end power to get rid of this lack of power.

I would have done this, if I could have got a 5 speed in it, but Ford stop offering them. So I would have had to go to a F-250. Plus I only paid 16,900 for my truck new.

An X-Cal2 programmer from Mike Troyer in the chips/tuner/programmer forum would be your best bet for more power in addition to your intake/exhaust. If you have the stock 3.55 gears in the rear, you might consider upgrading to 3.73's or 4.10's.

Gearing lower will give you better off the line pulling power and better city milage. But your highway milage will suffer more depending on how low you decide to re-gear. If you have stock sized tires, 3.73's will do good. If you have a lift and big tires, (ie. 35's) 4.10's would be your best bet. Good luck.

How many of those miles were with mods? What mods were in it before you had to replace the tranny?

X2 on that, I have the XCAL2 from Troyer on my 4.2 and what a difference it made. My next mod will be some gears for sure.

you're not going to have to replace the tranny unless you suck and slip the clutch all day. and seriously...if i put a few power mods on and had to replace the trans., somethings wrong with it. im not going to want some pos driving my whole truck that will fail with an extra 50hp.
