Ram air
Ram air
I have an 05 f150 and I was wondering if anybody knows if a ram air box for the 4.2 liter engine even exists. I got the crazy idea to put one in my truck but I've never seen one for a v6 f150, or does anybody know if the stock air box can be modified to be functional with a ram air hood?
The only thing I read about is on the stock box system where it goes thru the inner fender there is a restrictor built in and you can disassemble the tubbing and remove it.This is suppose to allow more air volumn into the factory box.I have not done this but I am thinking about doing this soon.As far as aftermarket, very little is to be found on the 2004+
4.2
4.2
Anyone know if they make hoods? I know that's something i'd look into down the road, but a "Box" i don't think exists. Check into a hood, you may have to spend $500 or more on it, but you've got a sharp looking hood at the same time.
Bump and new post//idea, sorry for the double post.
I ran by a picture of a 1998 f-150 that had a "Custom Fender" on the drivers side in a magazine a while back. It was no show truck, or any massive performer. But after thinking of this a while, i figured out what it was. It had a cone shapped section sitting on the drivers side fender about where the air snorkle goes into the fender. Now i realize that was turned into a custom, and probably crappy, ram air set up. Only problem is your only able to fit as much air as can slip by through that small hole in the air box.
Has anyone seen this, or heard anything about doing this? I've been thinking of trying this with a spare, junk fender fom a junk yard to see if i can get it to work with some modifications, and see if it works at all. I don't know if this will create turbulant air in the intake or not, so i'm just wondering if anyone knows of any problems with this?

Hello All;The answer to this question is no!!!I called Everett@AirForceOne and he said his intake for the 04-06 4.2 will not be completed till after september in prototype form.I don't hold my breath cause he told me 3 months, that was in march and now it's mid june,so who knows!!!
After that call I made one to Jay @JTL performance his reply was that there is no time for the 4.2, he has other projects on his plate, and can not even commit to the project. This pisses me off these guys think that since this is a 4.2 the market is just not there.Hells Bells
