Check Engine Light

Yesterday My brother check engine light came on the F150.So my friend came over with a scanner to check the light.The scanner said the Speed/Rev limiter was hit.That was funny

However, whenever I've hit 99 in the past and hit the gov that takes me back down to 80-something, I've never thrown a code. Also I don't know how many times I've hit barely over 5,000 RPM on acceleration. What is that sensor do exactly, because I don't think I've ever heard of that one.

I have a 4.2L 5spd

I hit 97 in 5th gear and the governor makes me slow to 95 till I can accel again..haahaa. I can hit what looks to be 99 in 4th gear though, then it kicks in to slow me downto 95 again. I cant wait to get a tach installed and then a chip/programmer to remove the speed restrictors.

P.S. I never threw a code also. and I have hit the rev limiter a few times.

I know that some other makes will throw a code for hitting the govener. But I have never had it happen to me in a Ford vechicle before. What year is the truck again. :santa:
