Pull engine or engine+trans

I am dropping in a new v6 4.2L and am about to pull the block but wondered if the overall process is easier if I try to pull the engine assembled with the tranny or just unhook the bell housing of the tranny and pull only the engine.

Anyone have experience with this? My only real concerns are:
1) can they eng/tran come out easily as one unit?
2) How difficult would it be to position the engine back up with the transmission if the transmission was left in place?

Thanks in advance,
Tim

If your transmission is a 5 speed and is needing a new clutch then pull it with the engine. If not or it is a automatic leave it!

It's an automatic transmission. Will they come out as 1 piece? I just figured it'd be easier to put them together outside the truck? So you ran into this similar question pulling your engine?

thanks in advance.
