Question Starting Problems=2000 4.2L

I have no idea what's going on. My truck is only starting about 50% of the time right now on the first try.

I hear the fuel pump coming on, but it seems like it isn't getting enough fuel or something. When it doesn't start right away, it will usually takes about 5-10 tries (give or take). It will crank but not turn over.

The other day it was sputtering and then stalled as if from fuel starvation when I tried starting. That happened about 3x and then I got er going with a couple timely taps on the gas pedal.

I'm planning on changing the spark plugs (Autolite Platinums) but I don't really know what else to do. Can anyone help? PLEASE!

Oh yeah, I'm @ 87,000 mi.

How long has it been since you replaced the fuel filter?

My starting problem turned out to be a weak fuel pump. It's pretty common I guess.

Fuel filter was changed within the past year.

Did you have to install a new fuel pump to replace the weak one? I can't afford this right now. :o
