My 98 4.2L Is Broke Please Help
Ok here we go, i was going to get some grub, feed my face, etc. and pulled out of the parking lot and oil light came on and the oil pressure gauge bottomed out and the engine started ticking like a baseball card in the spokes of a Huffy. So i parked it and had it towed to the house. Talked to some peeps and they said its a Oil Pump. Great i said that will be easy to fix. So i purchase the pump replace it add new oil and filter, crank the truck up and no oil pressure, ticking is worse. I took out the oil filter no oil is being pumped, took off the pump no oil, kep the pump off cranked the truck the rod is not turning in the oil pump houseing. What is the problem? I was told it could be a crankshaft or rod to crankshaft problem. Is this so? Please help.

You need to pull the synchronizer assy out and see if the gear is broken. Haven't seen this, but possible. The synchro is located where the distributor used to be. It has a black sensor bolted to the top just behind the water pump and below the egr tube. If you need further info on this, email me. You cant just unbolt it and put it back in.
