V6 with 5 speed - trans fluid

This does not sound good. Sounds like internal transmission damage.

I would pull the drain plug and see what comes out. If metal shards and chunks come out, it is for sure internal.

The M5OD is known for having a weak input shaft.

I use 10W-30 synthetic oil in my 2003 Ford F-150 in it shifts great
