rear gears

ok next on my list is a chipset. but after that is a new rear gear set. all i'd really like to do is be able to bark the tires off the line. i'd not like to take TOO much of the top end just give me enough to kick it in if i feel the need... the need for speed.(sorry, i couldn't help it) so the question is which ones to go with. stock is 3.55 right? so should i go to 3.73 or 4.10? i'm planning on going with LSD at the same time. like i said, bark the tires not burn them. although burn would be nice too, as long as it's able to keep up on the highway. thanks and i really dig this forum

Well definitely not 4.10's. Depends on what size tires you're running. I'm running 4.56 gears with 37" tires and I can still chirp off the line.

i've got 20's on the back but the tire size is equivelent to stock. just more rim. i'm not getting a lift or anything. i've had the rear end lowered to match the front and a rear swaybar put on. that's all for the suspension. why did you say not to get 4.10?

I have 4.10's, best mod i've done. Sometimes I think i should have gone with 4.30's, but the 4.10's are nice and definitley improved acceleration

ok ready for gears

i know it's been a while sonce i started this thread. are the 410s going to take that much off my top end? (not that i have that much anyway) or whould i just go with the 373? i just want a LITTLE more pickup when i mash the gas. i do like the chip but i'm always looking for a little more. i'm going to get LS while i'm at it. i'm not worried about my 1/4mi time (if i want fast, i'll take my monster) just if it's going to be quicker to pass someone on the highway. so to sum it up: am i going to notice the difference if i go with 373 or should i just go all the way to 410?

i would go with 4.10's if you're close to the stock tire/wheel size
