4.2 problem

I have an electrical problem with my 97 F-150. When I start the truck the temp gauge goes all the way up, the oil pressure gauge goes up then back to nothing the fuel gauge does the same and the voltmeter goes all the way up.

Check your owners manual under the fuse section and see if there is a fuse or relay for the guages. If so,check them.If they are ok,then you have a more serious problem, which is way out of my league. Good luck!

4.2 problem

Check your truck grounds, usually erratic readings at the instrument cluster are ground problems. Check your negative cable from the battery to the chassis. The ground wire between the engine and the fire wall, etc.

Curious, mine has been doing this for well over seven months...I can't seem to find anything that it is harming except possibly my own ego. Checked the procedures on here and didn't fix it but I'm sure the grounds needed to be cleaned anyways.
