engine code help!!!

engine code help!!!

hey there ya'll.

long time no speak. anyhow.

awhile back I had a new engine installed. Two days after it began to run funny. Today finnaly it threw out an engine code.

The engine code is p0300 which from what i can tell is muti cyl misfires.

here are my trucks symptoms. I have been paying very close attention.

When I start the truck somtimes it will start hard, as in it will jump to a start with a shutter.

when I step on the gass hard it will sputer for a few seconds and then go just fine.

it will NOT do it when rpm is higher then 2500.

it does not seem to matter what speed i am going. if i have very steady gass it will be ok with only random shutters. if i step on it quickly it will worsen for a second and then jump to life.

here is a really strang symptom. if i let the truck sit for a few days without driving it it will take a good day of driving to start acting up again,

first thing in the morning when cold it is not as bad as when i have been driving around for a bit.

when i first get out of the truck i can smell fuel.

any info or ideas on where to start would be great.

P0300 is random misfire. The pcm knows it's missing, but can't pin it down to a cylinder. It could be numerous causes. Plug wires, coil, intake leaks, egr gases when not needed, plugs, hard to say from reading symptoms like yours.

Check plug wire routing and make sure they are installed snugly and on the right cylinders.
