Chip and gears or cam?

I'm looking to spending about $500 making my truck go faster, but i'm not sure what to go with. I've narrowed it down to two options gettings a chip and 4.10 gears or getting a new cam then getting the truck tuned. What would yall do?

Gears installed are going to run you anywhere from 650-800 installed, asuming that you have a 2wd. You can double that for a 4wd. For 500, I would buy a chip, intake and exhaust. Those 3 are a good combo to start with. Gears will give you a noticable difference, but they will run you a lot of $$. I would go with a superchip from troyerperformance.com, a AF1 or Airaid Intake, and a flowmaster or magnaflow exhaust. I have SI/SO on the exhaust because I didnt want to sacrafice the hp or tq to go with duals, but if you run duals, dont run pipes larger than 2.25". If you go SI/SO i would keep it with the 2.5" pipe. Just something to think about.

I would go with a Superchip and Cam, these two addons will give you about or a little more than 35 horses and will give you a lot of power in the low end. Getting 4.10 gears will not add horsepower put will make it go a lot faster but it will also kill your gas mileage. I would only get 4.10 gears if your planning on lifting your truck and putting any tire bigger than a 35 on it. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to mention earlier I have a magnaflow exhaust and a modded box w/ k&n filter. I think I might go with the new cam and chip, but still haven't decided. Thanks for the help
