V-6 Diesel

Ford is offering a Diesel, 4.5 L V-6 in there LCF series tilt cab trucks. The Eng has a reported 200 HP with 440 Lbs torque and also comes with a 5 speed auto trans. Do you think that Diesel, V-6 will make it's way into the F-150 line? Could be a nice combo. That LCF truck can now be ordered, but it is a 2006 model.

Thumbs up

That would be sweet. I am waiting for Ford to offer a diesel in either their f150 or Ranger pickups. I would be all over that. Especially with a manual trans. I know I would pay the extra $$ up front.

the reason it isn't offered yet is that the current 4.5 developed by Navistar won't be able to cope with the new cleaner (sulphur free) diesel fuel in 2007. This is in fact the engine that was under development for the F150. I think Ford is offering this engine in the commercial truck as part of their settlement with Navistar for backing away from this engine for the F150.

In 2007, watch how many diesels come to market.
