2002 V6 in a 1997..Possible?

Hello Everyone,
Would like to know if it is possible to put a 2002 , 4.2 into a 1997 Ford F150? My motor in the 97 got Hydro locked and destroyed.

Thank you in advance.

Yes it's possible, but you have to use your old engine computer harness. The only thing that is majorly different besides the harmonic balancer/crank pulley is on '97 and '98's, the IIRC butterfly valves were controlled by vacuum, '99 on up uses an electronic switch, also they have different fuel injectors, but they should flow the same. Already swapped a 2000 motor into a '97, wasn't difficult, just had to swap some of the old stuff on.
