Intake Gasket - Cost

I am now on the list of people with the intake faulty gaskets.

The local dealership wants $380 to change them, the dealership I bought it at will do it for $294. Is this a good price? They are saying 4 and 3 hours respectively with a $76 gasket set.

Thoughts?

I have 134k on it, if you are curious.

that price sounds fair.

toy did you happen to get the revised gaskets that are 3 mm thick and use the torque sequence and additionall 90 degree turn in the order they are suposed to be tightend. on the upper and lower intakes.

i just say this because this is what a good ford dealer will do so you dont have the leak come back.

sun have them clean your egr ports while the have the maifold off they prolly wont even charge you for it maybe offer to buy the tech a soda, that goes along way.

I had the Book for this truck so i did have the right touqre sequence and the specs. i also had a chance to clean the lower intake carbon deposits. i guess if the leak comes back ill regret it but if it holds ill have saved me some money.

they are kinda neat and fun to work on huh toy?
and that feeling of i fixed it is always good.
they should last long enough to warrent the savings.

but next time if there is a next time i would get the ford gasket kit its only like $52 and comes with every gasket you need for lower and upper. and the bolts are technically torque to yeild so they should all be replaced everytime they are taken out but most only do that with headbolts and i havent seen any problems from using the old intake bolts.

intake gasket

i see you have a 134,K on your ford. I have been led to pelive they wont run much over 60K. you and i must have been lucky. I bought my 97 used & already had 116K on it. a frind did mine, he works for ford been with them about 15 years. he said the head gaskets are also known to leek, & since it was tore down i might consider them too. so i bought all material & he charged me 400. laber. I didnt thank that was bad. We used Felpro gaskets, & new bolts. It runs goodnow.
